This week’s Cincinnati feature is a pub/restaurant called Senate. I went here a couple Thursdays ago when the wait for forkheartknife was an unbearable 2+ hours long. Although it was our second choice, it didn’t disappoint one bit. The restaurants in this city continue to surprise and impress me. Senate has a bit of a young yuppy feel. It’s not stuffy at all, but is just the right amount of classy. The space is pretty small and narrow, but that just makes you enjoy the company you’re with that much more. Their specialty is gourmet hot dogs, which I loved. I’m not really even a huge hot dog fan, but these were delicious. I ordered the Korean Dog which had homemade kimchi, beef hotdog, braised short rib and pickled cucumber on a brioche bun. ohh was it delicious. My friends and I also ordered duck fat fries and poutine. The poutine was amazing. It’s a Canadian dish that is a bed of fries topped with cheese curds, braised short rib and gravy. Definitely not something you can eat everyday, but it’s pretty much like a party in your mouth.
