I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
Jeni’s Splended Ice Creams- Columbus, OH
I took a day trip to Columbus with some friends yesterday, and while there, stumbled upon some really amazing food. Jeni’s was among those, and even though I had been before, it seemed to taste even more delicious this time around.
I ordered: 1/2 Goat Cheese with Red Cherries, 1/2 Sweet Corn & Black...

I forgot a bit about updating you on new discoveries in Cincinnati, but I’m back with a new one! I went to Take the Cake this week for lunch, which I’ve been to before, but haven’t shared about yet. TTC is a cute bakery & cafe in Northside that has a really open and welcoming environment. The kitchen is wide open so as you order and eat your food, the staff is...
the waiting game
” I love movies about “The Big Moment” – the game or the performance or the wedding day or the record deal, the stories that split time with that key event, and everything is reframed, before it and after it, because it has changed everything. I have always wanted this movie-worthy event, something that will change everything and grab me out of this waiting game into the whirlwind in front...

pie day friday
I haven’t baked a pie in awhile, so I thought it was about time. What better day out of the week than Friday to bring one to work? So, I settled on the classic apple pie. I used this same recipe for Thanksgiving last year and it was a hit.
Here’s what you need:
Butter Flaky Pie Crust (I am a huge believer of making your pie crust from...

Mac & Cheese, that is. My friends here have been raving about this restaurant/bar in Covington, KY called Keystone. It’s main attraction is the half-off mac & cheese on Monday nights. I don’t know about you, but m&c always warms my soul and reminds me of a true comfort food. I’m not really one to discriminate between Kraft mac or homemade mac…I like it all. So...

Spice Up Your Life
I have been pretty impressed by the amount of ethnic food restaurants in Cincinnati. I was actually expecting that there’d only be boring chain restaurants, but again this city has proven me wrong.
This week’s spotlight is on a great Indian restaurant in Clifton, the neighborhood where University of Cincinnati is located. There’s nothing extra special or fancy about...

Classy Dogs
This week’s Cincinnati feature is a pub/restaurant called Senate. I went here a couple Thursdays ago when the wait for forkheartknife was an unbearable 2+ hours long. Although it was our second choice, it didn’t disappoint one bit. The restaurants in this city continue to surprise and impress me. Senate has a bit of a young yuppy feel. It’s not stuffy at all, but is just the...

a pleasant surprise
Cincinnati typically isn’t the first place anyone thinks of when they want to move, but it happened to be the place that I chose. Since moving here, I’ve discovered that this place has a lot of hidden gems and doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. While it is no New York City or LA, this place definitely comes with character. If you know me, you know I love to eat and...
homemade mozzarella tomato etc. pizza
I made this last week when I was still in AZ and feeling the need to have home cooked food. I was also missing the small packed aisles, full of organic food at Trader Joe’s.
This pizza is incredibly easy, tastes really good and is fairly healthy too!
INGREDIENTS:
Garlic & Herb Pizza Dough (also comes in other flavors)
Basil- the fresher, the better!

Banana Bread- Madrid Style
I want to be better about posting all of the things I bake and cook. After all, I did name this blog ctaybakes.
Jay and I baked banana bread when I was visiting Madrid since he needed a taste of something from home. Considering he ate a whole loaf the next day, I think we got what we were hoping for.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup...
AZ has my heart.
I’m moving in a few days to Cincinnati and the closer I get to my departure date, the more I realize that Arizona will always be home. My life has been so on-the-go the past few months that this move has really crept up on me. I’ve packed and shipped my belongings across country before , but I’ve never left not knowing when or if I’ll ever be back here again permanently....
If you put your recipes on ctaybakes, i’ll try to bake them. it’ll...
